How Bae Area Esthetics Got Started

In early 2020 at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, I got laid off from my corporate job. I worked as a Product Marketing Manager at a logistics software company in the bay area. I actually loved my job working in the supply chain industry and getting to apply my artistic side working with the marketing team. In 2016, I graduated with a B.S. in Supply Chain Management from Arizona State University. I had always thought I would spend my entire career in corporate America as a white-collar employee, but COVID-19 changed my work trajectory. Amidst the global pandemic, complete city shutdown in the bay area, and no positive outlook on when the job industry would pick up again, I panicked. I am a mother of 3, and having no income was NOT an option.

It was at that point that my big sis from sorority invited me to come down to Arizona to live with her and learn how to tattoo brows. I trained under her for 6 months at Imperfect Artistry. She taught me the fundamentals of ombre powder brows, supervised me for all my new clients, and was by my side the entire time. This is a huge advantage that I was blessed to have. Most people who want to learn how to tattoo ombre powder brows have to take a 2-day certification training course and then be thrown into the wild to go home and practice taking in models by themselves. That means they must practice their new brow tattooing skills on people’s faces without supervision…

I was blessed to have my mentor by my side for 6 whole months before I moved back to the bay area and started Bae Area Esthetics (BAE).
